Broadcaster and running enthusiast Vassos Alexander has been revealed as the official ambassador of the ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon, which takes place in April.

His role as ambassador will involve spearheading the #DONTSTOPMENOW campaign. As part of this, entrants are urged to post a video of themselves on social media explaining their inspiration for taking part in this year’s ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon.

Entrants to the ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon whose videos have been judged to be the most inspiring will be invited to become a member of Team Vassos.

The team of ten will enjoy a ‘VIP’ experience of the ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon, state-of-the-art ASICS athletics wear, and a chance to meet and train with Vassos.

Entrants who sign up to take part in the ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon before 31 December are eligible to become one of the ten lucky people to join Team Vassos. Early birds who have already signed up are also eligible.

The name of the campaign is inspired by Vassos’ memoir “Don’t Stop Me Now: 26.2 Tales of a Runner’s Obsession” (Bloomsbury). The book chronicles his transformation into runner of marathons and ultra-marathons and the joys of running.

He said: “I am thrilled to be involved with this year’s ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon and I am looking forward to meeting Team Vassos. Running has been a pleasure and an act of self-discovery for me and I can’t wait to see some of the inspirational stories of those who will be participating in the ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon.”
