CHICAGO, IL — A Chicago man’s Facebook video has been seen over 40,000 times in nearly two days, thanks to the kind acts of several good Samaritans who rushed to help a Chicago Police officer in need. Kevin J. Russell posted the video to his Facebook page just before 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, telling viewers he was riding down Jeffery Avenue after work when he saw the officer crash his squad truck into a tree.

In the video post, Russell said he saw a Chicago Police Department truck flying down the street with the siren on, before crashing into a tree in order to avoid hitting an “idiot” that drove into the intersection.

As you can see in the post, the officer’s airbag was deployed, and several good Samaritans came to pull him out of the SUV and help him at the scene. “Is he OK?” Russell can be heard asking as bystanders gather around the officer, some using their cell phones to presumably call for help.

From the looks of it, the officer was lying down, but able to move.

Since Russell’s post, the video has been shared over 1,300 times.
